Foreclosed Properties to Choose from in San Antonio and Bexar County Texas

Foreclosures in San Antonio, and Bexar County Texas
Buying a foreclosure in San Antonio and Bexar County is still a good investment for many buyers who want to put in a little sweat and hard work fixing up one of these bargain deals on the market today. There are presently some 156 foreclosed properties in San Antonio and Bexar County, Texas.   That’s less than 2% of all the available home in the city and county.

Prices range from $25,000 for a single one bedroom fixer upper to $973,875 for a luxury home in beautiful Olmos Park Subdivision.  All of these foreclosures have nice equity, and many only require new flooring, new paint, hardware and lighting fixtures, and some Sheetrock repairs. Remember you can apply for the FHA Streamline Rehab loans for up to $31,500 in conjunction with an FHA loan. Depending on the amount that you want to spend fixing up one of these foreclosed properties in San Antonio and Bexar County Texas, it may be better to get a separate loan from your local credit union or local bank.

Now, is still a great time to buy while the interest rates are low, and many of these foreclosed properties may not be available if you wait too long. Foreclosures are certainly not for everyone, but if you decide you want to invest some time, effort, and money into one of these bargain deals, give me a call today! Remember, the procedure is slightly different for each type of foreclosure, and you will need someone who knows and understands this whole process.

Hi Jerry - Nice market report. It's interesting that foreclosures only amount to less than 2% of your market - that's good news. I remember, in the days before short sales, how much complaining there was about the process of buying a foreclosure - today, it's like a walk in the park.

Jerry: 2% is an incredibly low number...kudos to San Antonio homebuyers for not over-extending themselves.

Hi Jerry,

I want to share what was just reiterated about 5 times at the distressed property seminar I attended which was hosted by the Malibu Association of REALTORS....

Foreclosure is a legal process in which the lender attempts to take back the property. REO or Bankowned is the actual term of a property that has gone through the foreclosure process.

All the best of luck!!

Jerry: Thanks for the update for San Antonio TX. The interest rate definitely indicates this is the time to consider the purchase of home in Bexar and surrounding counties.

Jerry,

I think our foreclosure number is close to yours at 2% but it sounds like there are numerous opportunities in San Antonio. I find the low priced foreclosures in Katy are total dumps. Good blog and it looks like it was already featured and Congrats..

Thje BioBlitz I wrote about will include animals if some are wher they are working during the three shifts.

Yes, Anita. Our Foreclosed properties are decreasing all the time. Buyers looking to purchase may need to move with some urgency these days before the Better ones are gone.

Hi Dom, You are absolutely correct in your statement about what a Foreclosed Home is. Unfortunately, the average consumers are not very familiar with the terms, "REO & Bank Owned Properties". Foreclosed Homes is a better Keyword phrase for the search engines and today's consumers.

Posted by Jerry Newman, Texas REALTOR, San Antonio Military Relocation (Green Home Realty, 210-789-4216,www.Selling-SanAntonioHomes.com) almost 2 years ago

Yes, Carl. Now is a Great Time to buy while those interest rates are still low. Buying a foreclosure is still a bargain for many buyers.

Hi Robert, I know our low priced foreclosed homes are mostly dumps too. Only the investors normally go after those less than $70,000. Sounds like your market is moving a good direction with the decrease in foreclosed homes.

Hi Lisa. You are so right. The numbers are rapidly decreasing across the state, and Texas is leading the way for our real estate industry too.

Hi Cheryl. Yes, I believe the number of foreclosures are reducing across the country. I was told by one of our REO specialist that the banks were going to be doing more Short Sales next year instead of Foreclosing on Home owners.
